My priority is, and always will be education, students learning the content they need to be productive, informed, critical thinking citizens.
In Language Arts students need to learn reading skills so they can become critical consumers of information. They need learn writing skills so they can articulate their ideas to the world.
In Math students need to learn multi-step problem solving skills and how numbers can be used to model the world, so they can tackle complex real world problems.
In Social Studies students need to learn about our rights and how to excise them so they can be engaged citizens. They need to learn about the events of the past so they can learn from them to make the world a better place for all. They need to learn about the multitude of rich cultures in the world so they can better navigate the global society we live in.
In Science, students need to learn the scientific process, how to question everything, and seek answers based on observable evidence. Students need scientifically accurate knowledge so they can make informed decisions.
And students need a safe environment to do all of this essential learning. Not just physically safe, but also emotionally and intellectually safe. A space where every student feels accepted for who they are so they can be free to take risks and become active drivers of their education rather than passive recipients of knowledge.
Education will empower students to change the world!
